I need to re-install my registered copy of NIS 2011 after a hardware failure last week. However, all of my attempts to do so have failed so far.
All of my attempts to run the Norton Removal Tool have failed before completion -- i.e., have failed at the stage of processing all MSI's. all of the Norton files that were supposed to be deleted by NRT at the re-boot stage are still on my disk.
All of my attempts to run the NIS 2011 installation file have failed at the re-boot phase, whether I choose to re-boot now or re-boot later. In all cases the re-installed NIS 2011 causes my computer to fail to boot in the next boot cycle and all of the Norton files that were supposed to be deleted at the re-boot stage are still on my disk.
Neither of the above works in Safe Mode, either. Both in Safe Mode and in ordinary Windows mode, there is a total failure to complete the re-boot process, and I am left with a system that does not have any anti-virus protection.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem? The problem has been reported a number of times in the past, but I have not seen any "solution" that will work in my situation. . What can be done to clean up everything so that it is possible to do a clean re-install?
Thanks.
