Please improve the control and management of N360 backup sets. Currently an N360 user can only view and download files from the web tool.
Please allow the user to delete old or duplicate backup sets and remove specific files from backup sets. Old backup sets consume storage space and are confusing when trying to find a file.
Hi Randy. Thanks for the feedback. If you go to Manage Backup Sets, and then click "Preview’, this will show you a list of all your files that you have backed up. You can click on the checkbox to the left of the particular files that you want removed. Then just click the ‘Remove from backup set’ link on the lower left hand corner. Were you looking for something different?
I apologize for taking so long to get back. I got busy and forgot to check this for questions.
The problem for me is twofold.
First I have several 'old' backup sets in my Nobu list that I can't remove or manage the files contained in them. They are stuck there taking up space and they make finding files to restore confusing as some have the same PC name. What I would like is to be able to manage (remove complete backup sets or manage individual files) backup sets and files for computers other than the computer I'm at. So if I have 3 PCs in the house/office I would like to manage backup sets without having to be at each PC.
The second problem is a bit general. Managing backups is a little confusing. There is a link to Nobu via your browser, the preview button, and other links to different functions. It would be nice if the management interface was a little more seamless and intuitive between the local file system and the backup.
As an example: I have 5438 files totaling approximately 6.9GB. I open the 'mange backup sets' window from the main interface. I must cycle through 4 different tabs to find all the config options I need to setup a backup. I must open a new window, from a specific tab, to manage filters. I must open new windows, from a specific tab within manage backup, to configure each file type extension. If I want to access my online backups I must go to tasks, completely unrelated to the manage backup sets window, and select the option to restore a file, even if I'm not restoring files. Once I have backup configured and I press preview I am presented with a list of 5438 files with no search option and the only sort is a size sort (ascending/descending). I have to go to Windows Explorer and look through directories manually to see if any important file types aren't included in the backup or extra files that I don't want backed up are included.
In short the interaction with backups could be a little more harmonious and intuitive.
But the Backup Settings Interface is DISGUSTING and needs TREMENDOUS improvement. Previously there used to be a tree structure for selecting/deselecting files, which was also DISGUSTING. Here we had to deselect individual files not needed to be backed up. But now even this tree structure is not there. I have keep my backup disabled as I do not want unneccessary files to be backed up. This requires TREMENDOUS IMPROVEMENT to make it SIMPLE and EASY. I use Norton 360 Version: 4.1.0.32.
