Are there any chances to Archive the threads? Some of the topics are from way back and searching thru them are very tedious.
Moreover, I think separating NAV and NIS thread would help.
Also, Message subjects are in a mess, with some time user (me included) having 2 or 3 different topic in a same thread.
Perhaps having a subset of thread will also help user.
For Example:-
NIS thread should be separated into :-
Product Tutorial - Users having issues that are less complex. (ie:- how to use a feature)
Technical Tutorial - users having rather complex issues with programs (ie:- Symantec Framework Issues)
Trival, discussion, explanation....etc.
Virus infection.
Etc......
Of course, it is difficult for users to differential topics as complex or not, so it is really up to the Mod squad to move threads.
Another thing......Message Subject. (this is a tough one to figure out). But, informing users to be as precise as possible with the Message Subject (eg:- NIS2009 updates - can be amended to IS THERE ANY NEW VERSION UPDATES FOR NIS2009).
Then again, users do not have time to write all the details.......So, discourage users from posting 2 different issues in the same thread.
So, far these are some of my ideas of hand....I am sure many has already thought of it.

I would agree on that! I.e. the NIS/NAV topic is a mess.....
But if you do some changing with this you will need some moderators to help you, 'cause it's a lot of work....... I think the Gurus and the most helpful Contributors could be these (but I can't speek in theire name :) :P).
Just for the record, gurus etc can't change the forum structure or even move messages. Only Norton Staff (Administrator / Moderator) can do that.
You'll notice that the main Forum structure still has the word BETA as part of it -- Norton are still working on developing what we have here but it all takes time. Suggestions are appreciated and taken notice of.
Absolutely, and we certainly do appreciate suggestions for improvements. We did receive a suggestion for a Norton AntiVirus board. Additionally, another suggestion we received was to have a combined Norton AntiVirus/Norton Internet Security board. After weighing out some of the pros and cons for these boards, we decided on the combined NIS/NAV board. While many factors went into this decision, one major factor was the common issues shared by Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus. Since they share so much code in common, issues that occur in Norton AntiVirus are very likely to occur in Norton Internet Security.
I'm curious; do you consider it a "mess" because issues for both products are listed on the board? Has this caused any problems in getting help, or giving help?
No Offences to you or Symantec. I have the most respect to you and all. I definitely think that you guys are really patience and understanding, despite the amount of work you guys are doing.
What I meant by MESSY, I meant that there are too many threads under the same topic and sometimes a thread that has not related to the subject matter but was posted. This is where the mess is. I have a hard time searching for a thread I posted and had to PM someone to assist.
It would be nice that thread are sorted within a sub-group. As mentioned in my initial posting.
As a user myself and non-techie, I know it is very difficult "controlling" threads. It takes a lot of work. But I think educating users are very important.
Anyway, these are my thoughts......I shall be back.

I ment it a mess that everybody post there everything. Don't look up, if there was a post about the same thing, just write it because it's easier. But if you make it a little easier to find things, like different maintopics for infections, bugs, how to use, how to find this option,...etc. I think maybe these 'topics' could be some start for you. And for the helpers it would be much much better, 'cause if somebody knows how to manage a threat, but don't like telling people how to turn on (first not turn off :D) autoprotect..... Now helpers must read almost every topic, cause mostly you don't know what people want (ie. mislieding topic title).
Some ideas I have for the forums (NIS/NAV, N360, Other) - How to use problems and turorials (if needed) - Subscriptions - Where's the option for ____? - Infections, and removing them - Bugs users found - New version/update downloads
For huwyngr: I know gurus and the others I mentioned are not moderators, but they could be, if they agree this role/job (or what it is for them :D)

With some 20 years of experience of doing this on Compuserve, where I'm still an active sysop, I know that I would not have the time or energy to do it here.
FWIW a Compuserve Forum can have up to about 20 "Folders" -- used to be called Sections -- and these divide the Forum into topics along the lines you suggest. They do help although people do still post in the wrong one, jump into existing threads and diverge and do what human beings do.
But I agree that subtopics would help as would a wider use of the probably largely unknown Threaded display of messages through which everyone can see that I am specifically answering you and not someone up the line -- I despise the Blog Format! (Using "dispise" in the Southern sense <s>).
Thanx for the great suggestions guys. It indeed is still beta. But I think there are lot’s of people around who would like to help out. But first we need to get things straight before we get out of beta
I would like to suggest that Regulaur Contributors (R.C.s) and Gurus (G.s) should be able to stick a Thread to the Top of that Board to highly and get everyones attention, such as Polls or current incidents, for example.
You could also think about giving R.C.s and G.s the Option to Close and Re-Open Threads; their own at least, i.e. the ones they Started.

This is a great idea! But I think this shouldn't be automatic. I mean there can be people who will just make troubles with it, close a topic which is not solved, spam everything, and so on..... So Symantec should find the little group of helpers (maybe as a new Rank ;) ).
And an other thing: when we post something by pressing the reply button (or what is it :P :D) over the username /so not the first post/, it would be great if it will load the previous post, and not by pressing the Quote Message button in the editor. I know it's a really lasy thing, but it's more useful, like in other engines. Or please make a Quote button next to the Reply.

Thank you!! That is why I suggest R.C.s and Gurus. And i like your idea about a New Rank; intresting. It could be like: R.C. - Helper or something. Hmmm...
And I am not sure about your second idea because then people may have clicked on the wrong one or maybe they didn't want to Load it or whatever. But yeah, that is just what I think. :)

I think that in most forum engines this function works so, that when you want to simply add a comment to the post, you click on the bottom/above button for reply. But if you click on the reply directly in/by the post that adds the previous one to it, and the user can delete it, or remove things from it, like I did with this :D :D (mostly this function's text is quote, but I met engines which have the text reply, but the same function)
