Recently, Microsoft released KB4019264, I would watch out for this one. According to the article,
“Updated Internet Explorer 11’s New Tab Page with an integrated newsfeed.”
I was annoyingly confronted with this situation upon opening my IE 11 (Inori Version) AND even though I selected for this measure NOT to be taken, the next time I opened my browser (specifically on a new tab) there WAS an option in the top-right corner of the page to “enable my newsfeed”. Granted, it did not present any news, however, it still annoyed me that the option had been “burned into” (if you will) a tab page for anyone who uses the computer to unwittingly engage the option. Microsoft sneakily snuck this in and had the gall to classify it under the guise of a “security update”. Sorry ol’ chap, but a “newsfeed” is most definitely not related to security. Or, at least the way I see it. Probably a pathetic attempt by Microsoft to increase views to their shoddy news-service. In turn, I went to Programs/ Features in Win 7 pinpointed 4019264, and, immediately removed it. Annoying in that even to uninstall this update, it seemed like it took forever - - just an inconvenience. It also seemed that after the un-install my browser was still reeling from the after-effects. Furthermore, I re-configured Windows Updates to consult me if an update is available for install. That’s what you get, Microsoft. You tried to get greedy, and, now, I just dropped the hammer in total on you. If there happened to be other important updates coupled with this last update, too bad. They will not be installed until Microsoft releases them in a format that will not take over my browser. My computer was fine before this stupid update and I’m sure it will survive moving forward. This was especially a cardinal sin because it messed with my anime-themed browser. You do NOT mess with an Otaku’s anime browser, you just don’t. It’s amazing, bad enough we have to keep up with all these virulent strains of malware etc. then, we have to compete with Microsoft bringing unwanted changes to us as well. Ridiculous. They should reimburse me for the hassle of trying to get my settings back to the way they were. In total, not pleased with what took place here, and, if I were you, I would immediately seek to uninstall this update and voice opposition on this directly to Microsoft. They have to learn that they’re not going to pull a “fast one” and go unnoticed.
Sincerely,
H.B.
P.S.- Even though I had to deal with the aforementioned, I was at least able to listen to the awesome rhythm of A Toku over on YT. This kid has an awesome sound and, mark my words, he’s going places - - I could even picture him drumming with BBB.
