Incoming Text Does Not Trigger Notification Alert on Android Phone Under Child Account

I just got a phone for my child and installed NF app as instructed. I just have NF basic. I'm on the owner account and I created a new user account for my child. I installed NF under my child's account and enabled it. When I started to test out texting, I noticed that when logged in under my child's account, an incoming text did not trigger a notification. There was no ring-tone and a notification did not appear. However, when I am in the owner account, an incoming text triggers a notification just fine.

Since I had not tried sending texts to this phone before installing NF, I don't know if this is an android thing or if NF is causing this situation. So, I'd appreciate if anyone can provide any insight into this problem. The phone is a Motorola Moto G (2nd generation) updated to Android 5.02.
