Hi
I was getting repeated system crashes when Norton was trying to update its definitions (downloading updates was fine; crashed on installation of upgrades).
So after browsing the forums, I've uninstalled (using the Norton uninstaller and the downloadable removal tool) and reinstalled 360, with multiple reboots.
I've done uninstall/reinstall twice, with the same result: a 360 desktop icon visible but non-functional, and no system tray icon either. The links to run Norton from my startup menu don't work either - except for the uninstallation one. And the link to 'explore 360' that shows on the 'successful installation' screen doesn't work.
I'm running Vista, with all service packs and updates. I've been using Norton without a problem before; this isn't a new installation.
Task Manager tells me that the Symantec Service Framework (ccSvcHst.exe) is running, but I don't know what this means. Am I protected or not? I haven't been able to open Norton to enter a key, or to revise any settings since I tried reinstallation.
Oddly, when I tried to run the updates initially, Norton told me I'd turned the auto updates off, which I hadn't.
Can anyone advise me on what to try next?
Thanks
