Greetings, I am Von and I've been a Norton products user since 1998... Currently I am using NIS 09 fully renewed and updated.
3 days ago I got infected by w32.rungbu.a virus (or win32.rungbu.a as called by Spybot S & D).
NIS was NOT able to detect the above threat, even after several full system scans after I experienced the first symptoms which were:
a) unable to view hidden files
b) double clicking on C: resulting in autorun "open with" window.
Symantec lists only w32.rungbu and w32.rungbu.C threats, but not the one in question, resulting in a paying customer like me to waste 2 evenings installing numerous threat-removal freeware applications, and "messing up" with the system registry, in an effort to manually remove the threat.
I kindly request a responsible solution from an expert, as I have reasons to believe that the virus has "leftovers" over my system registry.
Thank you in advance,
Von
