A couple of days ago, a full system scan indicated that "W32.Virut.CF" was detected and resolved. Over 50 infected files were Quarantined.
W32.Virut.CF is a pretty nasty virus. I don't know why NIS didn't stop it from getting on my PC, but it was supposedly "resolved".
Today, I noticed the following in the "Intrusion Prevention" history log:
Intrusion Prevention has been enabled.
Intrusion Prevention is monitoring 0 signatures. Driver version: 9.0.3.10
Yes, ZERO signatures being monitored. After a brief panic, I went to "Internet Settings - Intrusion Exclusions" and clicked on "Configure [+]" but nothing happens. A sub-menu does not open up. All other "Configure" buttons on the screen open properly when clicked.
So, I'm now in a long-term panic because it looks like NIS itself was zapped by the virus. All "Computer" and "Internet" settings are fully ON, but I think I'm wide-open to being zapped if zero signatures are being monitored.
Any suggestions other than "uninstall then reinstall"? (I'm still on version 16.2.0.7, new version not received yet.)
Thanks for any help you can provide.
