Infection after upgrading to 2011

I am running Windows xp Media Center Edition version 5.1 w sp3 on a

Gateway laptop and running NIS2011 (upgrade from 2010) Version

18.5.0.125.  I have never gotten any popups or redirects for websites or

searches until I installed NIS.  After installing NIS 2010 did 80 MB update

and then upgraded to 2011 on the website.  Now I am getting websites

popup with adverts.  I also get the  Tidserve request 2 blocked message,

so I can only assume I am infected with the  it's BO Trojan and/or rootkit.

What is strange is that even after the message is blocked, looking at the

blocked sites (auto block on) there are no entries.  Can IP's be added

manually?  There are 6 IP addresses identified so far.  I also tried adding a

device to the network using one of the IP's with restricted settings (no

access) but have had enough time to see if the IP comes up again.  I will

try to clean this box later but just curious about the settings.  Also see

that NIS is blocking Spybot access, Teatimer and defender access.  Any

way to allow those processes access? (I'm not trying to exclude them from scans).

Thanks for any help.  LP9
