Hi im new to the community ( so im sorry if im posting this in the wrong place) and proud of it as ive never had to look to these forums for assistance before with any of my norton products.
I recently purchased Windows 7 and now I cant seem to get my Norton 360 v 3 to install. When i insert the disc into my CD Rom it brings up a screen saying "Initializing" and does not move from that position.
I have tried several things to fix this:
Initially I ran windows in safe mode and installed it there with no problems. I then ran into the issue of not being able to scan or update my nortons as it also become stuck and did nothing further. I have almost nothing installed on my PC other then my vodafone live software which i use to connect to the interent as I am to scared to do anything without my Anti Virus fully functioning.
The next thing I tried was searching the website to see if there were any compatibility issues with Norton's and windows 7 only to find that it should install and update itself to work on windows 7
I have used the Nortons removal tool as well and this seemed to have made no difference to my problems with installing it.
I then began attempt to use the online chat support feature on the website but apparantly my email adress is invalid for the chat server (im assuming its because i have underscores within it). So unfortunatly this is my last resort.
My machine is pretty much clean at the moment so I dont have any type of anti virus's or spyware programs on.
I have seen this link before but because I am using a wireless 3G modem that connects via usb I dont use my network cards. I have however, after reading this, reinstalled my modem and installed new drivers for my network card that is not in use. No changes have occured.
What bothers me is that the install works during safe mode
Install Malwarebytes, launch the program and go to "Update"; click on "Check for Updates" and let it download the definition files. Then go to "Scanner" and have it run a full scan. When Malwarebytes has finished the scan, it will automatically generate a log in a Notepad file, which will pop up on your screen after the scan. On this window of the Notepad file, please go to "File", then to "Save as"; type in a name, save the file to, for instance, your desktop, then post it over here by using the "Attachments" feature when you write your next post.
To delete what Malwarebytes has found, click on “Show Results” after scanning has finished. Ensure that the threats picked up by Malwarebytes are marked with a tick, then click on "Remove Selected".

I had no antvirus preinstall as I formatted the hardrive itself. I have downloaded the suggested program and cleared whatever it found as you have directed. Unfortunatly no change to my situation has occured
It did take a while but I finally did resolve the problem with the help of Nortons online chat feature. It took several people to finally come to the conclusion that there were DNS issues and they managed to reset them. I did however recieve complimentary subscribtion time for my patience and co-operation and I urge others who have this issue to do the same.
