Insert / edit link question

Hi Forum

Wow! Busy Forum today...will try to be brief.

Tried posting URL link to reply message with Insert / edit link & Link text...ie: Norton Bootable Recovery Tool for 2010.  Here  the Link text Here populates the correct URL to the new window address bar...but, also only populates error page ~ Method Not Allowed ~The server is unable to process your request.  So, I have to then edit message with full long URL.  My Target is Open link in a new window.  Any ideas what I may be doing wrong.  How may I get Insert Link text to work absent error page?

Regards

Hi bjm_,

There's an error in the URL:

 http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/globalmaps/recoverytool.jsp.

There's a full stop after the "jsp", and that got into the link as well, that's why it isn't working. Erase the dot, and it will work.

Do the following: highlight the word "here". Then go to the link icon and insert http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/globalmaps/recoverytool.jsp (without the full stop after the jsp) in the box  "Link URL". For practical reasons, choose "Open link in a new window" under "Target". Then click on "Insert". And then you've got the link embedded in "here".

HereHi Yaso_Kuuhl

Wow...amazing what a dot will do...thanks.  For practical reasons I do choose "Open link in a new window" under "Target".   So, it must just be just the darn dot.  Thanks

While I have your ear.  I have also tried to compose message with differing Font color.  The posted message always reverts my optional Font color to default black.  Maybe, u can offer advice How to post with chosen Font color.   Lets see if Text link works now  Here

Yes, link is working just fine now.

About the colour; that happens to me, too. I get a red box saying something about invalid html having been found in my message, and I lose the colours, and have to apply them again. This is an old glitch with the forum editor, and you just have to start with the colours from scratch :-/ It usually always works on the second attempt.

Hi again Yaso

sorry for taking up so much time w my minor issues...

re > It usually always works on the second attempt. ~~ Do u try second attempt from Red Box window or do you just edit original post or do you preview message and change colour from preview pane.

I tried Personal Preferences w Ignore HTML but, not sure that was appropriate for colour fix.

I tried to edit posted message and change colour ...did not work as you can see...still basic black.

One more try ...I think I got it ...will play with it.  I can't control what happens to my FF w Norton Live Updates ...maybe I can control my posts.

Regards

Lol, I think you've got the hang of it. If you want to do some more testing with the colours and fonts, please use the thread below - it is meant specially for experimenting with the forum features ;-))
