I am using Norton 360 and I would like to install Norton 360 2.0.
How can I do it?
Do I have to uninstall the old version first?
Or the easiest way:
2. Run the setup, it should automatically remove the previous version and install the new one.
Sorry perhaps my previous post was not as clear as I normally try to be. You can install 2 over 1 and 2 will remove the previous version. However, my recommendation is to uninstall V1 yourself, use Norton Removal Tool for good measure and also, if backup is important, to run the little prog before NRT to backup the backup settings.

I have to agree with cgoldman
Any idea why your message in this thread is headed: Re: Issues with Norton 360 and a rogue called Antivirus 2008 which is a different thread altogether, yet your content relates to this one.
FWIW I don't totally agree with not just installing v2 on top of v1 -- Norton Staff have repeatedly said that NRT is only intended for use when normal uninstall fails. Is there evidence of there being a difference when someone just wants to update from a funcitoning V1 to V2?
Installing on top does take over you previous settings but since the antispam is part of the add-on package you lose that. So BUDUMP is the backup tool -- essential if you are using the add-on pack and don't want to remake all your antispam settings.
The download link for BUDUMP is halfway down the Norton Removal Tool instruction and download document.
Note: Sorry but BUDUMP is NOT the tool to backup your Add-on pack settings before updating to N360 V2.
See this message below for the correct information.
The document you linked to, has either changed from the last time I saw it or it is another document in the NRT set.
Either way it tells me something I did not know and I suspect I need to edit one of my Advisory notes.
The thing is budump is only related to "backup" ; not THE backup of Norton settings but a backup of the "backup settings".
From this document it is even clearer that budump is limited to the backup of the "Online Storage backup settings".
So I do not think budump is "..essential if you are using the add-on pack and don't want to remake all your antispam settings."
My mistake then.
I must try and find the message I got in one of the Forums here when I lost all my antispam settings -- it gave a link to the file to use and I downloaded it -- it's in my internet downloads folder as BUDUMP.exe .
If I find it I'll post here or if I find that I misunderstood the recommendation to use it.
Mea culpa!
Here is the link to the tool for backing up the settings in the Add-on to N360 v1 before upgrading to V2 -- called migrating.
Exporting your Norton Add-on Pack settings while upgrading to Norton Add-on Pack 2.1
BackupAOPSettings.exe.
Sorry about that.
Link and text corrected now .... hopefully.
Loop the loop
The link you posted seems to link to this thread. I imagine you have another link url, if so maybe you could edit your msg with the revised link please.
P.S. Looks like you just realised the same thing. Obviously I'm too quick of the mark. I'll go back to sleep them!
More haste, less speed ....
Actually the corrected text is a much better link since it goes direct to the Symantec document and download.
II have incorporated reference to this in my previously posted ADVISORY : Uninstalling Norton 360 v1 or V2, with or without reinstallation of either version. Hope I got it right.
Thanks for this
Everyone shout out loud:
Norton! --
Please incorporate Migrate/Backup Settings into future versions of the Add-On pack !!!
The answer is yes. You could install Norton 360 v2 and it will advise you that Norton 360 v1 needs to be uninstalled. However, my recommendation is to manually uninstall v1 before you even attempt to install Norton 360 v2. Moreover, I would suggest the additional use of the Norton Removal Tool.
There is an Advisory Note in this forum on uninstalling and reinstalling Norton 360. You really should read this.
