Installation of Internet Security on new machine and on old machine

I just purchased a 3 PC copy of Norton Internet Security from an Internet vendor and should receive it in a few days.

Meanwhile, I have a new Lenovo desktop PC that I'm in the process of setting up (with 64 bit Windows 7 and a pre-installed trial version of McAfee).  My old machine (which I am keeping) is a Dell Inspiron laptop running XP, with Norton Internet Security 2010 running on it, and the old Norton license expires Sept 28, 2011.  I have tried to read relevant postings on Norton Community Forum, but I must admit that they generally confuse me regarding what would apply to me.  So here are some questions:

(1)  To remove McAfee from the new desktop, do I use a tool supplied by Symantec or do I need to get the tool from McAfee?

(2)  Since I don't want to be without protection while connected to the Internet, can I copy the installation files from the Norton CD to the new PC and do the installation (or most of it) while disconnected from the Internet?  In other words, how do I juggle the removal of McAfee with the installation of Norton while minimizing Internet connection time with no firewall?  Or should I use the built-in Windows Firewall?

(3)  To apply the new license to my old laptop, should I first upgrade to NIS 2011 under my old license?  Or do I have to remove Norton from the laptop before I can apply the new license to the old machine?  Or can I simply use the new CD to update the old machine?

(4)  Is there any other question that I should have asked but haven't asked the community?

Thanks for your help.
