Issue abstract: Installation Problem on Windows 7 - N360-ESD-22.24.8.36-EN Version
Detailed description: On Windows 7 I am attempting to install the above older version of Norton 360. The installer appears as follows -
It then disappears, and nothing further happens. I have run Revo Uninstaller to remove all remaining parts of the previous installation, as it was still appearing in the Add/Remove Programs list. After Revo Uninstaller resolved this issue, I had hoped this would fix the issue, but it did not, and I am still experiencing the above issue
Product & version number: Norton 360 22.24.8.36
OS details: Windows 7
What is the error message you are seeing? There is no error number, but the above screen appears, then disappears.
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them: Please see above
@mcnamee19 Your image is not viewable without an account where you have it hosted. FYI!! Windows 7 with SP0 is no longer supported. Do you have at least SP1 installed? If you are attempting a reinstall with SP0 that is the reason for your install not activating.
Starting May 22nd, 2024, Windows devices running on the following operating systems will no longer be supported by Norton:
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7 (Service Pack 0)

Thank you for the reply, I have checked and my system is showing that I do have SP1 installed.
I have also uploaded the image on another hosting site -
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.
Where did you download that version of Norton from? Are you using an Admin account on Windows?
Use the official R&R tool found here and remove Norton. Do a removal only and reboot. Use the installer below to reinstall. Please post progress.

I downloaded it from the official Norton site.
I have also tried using the removal tool, but it does not seem to work in terms of resolving the issue.
The previous installation would not be removed from the Add and Remove program list on the control panel, until I used Revo Uninstaller. Revo did remove it from that list after it completed it’s processes, but did not resolve this issue.
I assume it may have something to do with this, but have no other options after using Revo.

That older version is only available from the link I posted as far as I am aware of. Have you downloaded it from that link and installed? The older removal tool is also required to remove older versions. I would also manually look for ALL folders labeled Norton, Avast and Symantec and remove them. Reboot the install again with the download I provided.

Hi, I have yes. I found it previously on another thread in 2024 when I last installed it.
But the key was the R&R tool you posted above - once this ran and the system rebooted, the installation file started up as usual. The previous Norton removal tool I used was different to this one, and did not resolve the issue, but this one did.
Thanks for the advice on this!
