Installed Ghost 15. Used registry clean. Re-installed. Can I use an old image?

Hi.

Today I Installed Norton Ghost 15. Uninstalled Norton 360 v.4. Used registry clean. Ghost 15 was erased. Re-installed Norton V.5 and then Ghost 15.

When I installed Ghost 15 first: I copied the C-drive. Then I did the uninstall of Norton 360 v.4 and the registry clean which erased the Ghost 15.

I put it onto my external usb2 hard-drive.

Can I use the old image from last night? I looked in Ghost and it now says that my system is not protected since I have not done a back-up. Not since the second install.

On the external drive there is the hidden Ghost folder: VproRecovery and 2 files in my back-up folder: .sv2i and .v2i. I chose no compression for that one.

Will the new install accept the different install's image?

Thank you.

The .v2i file should be good for a restore if you want to use it. You can open it with Recovery Point Browser and verify if you want to just to make sure.

I'm not sure why you chose no compression. Standard compression is recommended. It will make the .v2i file smaller and doesn't take much longer to backup with this option.

If you restore your PC using that .v2i file, it will be exactly the same as when the image was taken. Whatever was changed after that time will be lost.

You cannot import the previous backup into Ghost's history. You will either have to do another backup or ignore status to shut Ghost up about not having a backup.

No compression: The c-drive was small. Took about 1hour or less. I cannot do that on other drives since they are too big. I'm probably going to change the options. I actually have all my drives separate with 1: No compression and 2. Standard compression. Then the last option with all drives and Standard compression. I'll go back in and configure, I'm still learning about the program. :-). I like it.

I assume I went into Ghost's REcovery Point Browser: Tasks - Recover My Computer - Tasks - Custom Recovery - Looked on the external drive. And there is was, the .v2i file.

I will go in and do another back-up. I am about to do some things to my computer. I had to have one back-up since I had trouble with Ghost before and had to uninstall it. Ghost decided to do something to Norton 360 v.4 and Security Center could not recognize that N360 was installed. Uninstalls and re-installs did not work. I am sure it was one of the updates. They were not in order or something and it messed it up. So I had to clean install my OS and not install Ghost. But now it works and I even put N360 v.5 on here.

I understand that older v2i file will be the old image and not what I have now. It's ok. I'll do another one later. It is imporant to know that Ghost does not recognize old back-up files and has "tunnel vision". But I can still ge them if needed.

I'v dealt with some of Ghosts messages already. heh...heh...heh. Ghost is a little quiet right now...........Like a ghost usually is.........

Thanks.
