I bought a new copy of NIS 2011 from Amazon for much less than the renewal price from Norton. I installed from the CD and it uninstalled my previous version and installed again. I activated it with my new key. But when I go to my Account sign in, the old version still shows as expired and a "Renew" button. How do I delete my old version from my account?
Thanks,
Gary
PS. I filled out the feedback to Norton on why I was uninstalling my NIS and told them that I could buy a new version for half the price as their renewal price. I hope they get the message.
I really didn't have a choice. The install program said to uninstall and keep passwords and other data or uninstall completely. Just entering my new key would have saved me a lot of time. For others, if you hit renew can you just enter a new key or do you have to purchase the renewal?

But is the new activation with the new KEY listed also? How many days until expiry shows on the new install now that you have activated it -- did it have some days left because when you use a new purchased KEY it wipes out any unused subscription and does not add to it like a Norton on line renewal.
If you did not use the new KEY yet then wait until a couple of days before the old subscription is due to expire and then click on RENEW and insert where it says Have an existing KEY and then the clock will start on the new subscription
If you did use the new KEY and it shows either no change or 366 days then you may want to go to Customer Support and ask if they can add the unexpired time back in for you -- I've herd they somethimes do this.
You can choose CHAT or Email; email & phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

You didn't have to insert the CD and run the install program. You could have just input the Product Key from your new purchase into the space provided in the existing program. I am assuming you already had done the upgrade to NIS 2011. If you were moving from NIS 2010 to this year's version, then yes, you would need to install anew.
Thanks to all who have replied. My new version is active and I have 366 days remaining. I was just concerned about the old version showing on my account and asking for renewal. I have a 2nd laptop computer that I will need to activate the new key for and I'll try to do that without reinstalling. It has 2011 already loaded.
