Installed new version of NIS. Windows now says "This copy of Windows is not genuine"How do I fix?

I have used Norton Internet Security (3 user) licence for a year satisfactorily.

I purchased a new retail version of NIS (3 user) and reinstalled.  No problem with 2 laptops but on my PC after restart I now have a black screen and a message "This copy of Windows is not genuine"

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

I have run MGADiag.exe and it shows my Product Key and hash code are correct.  Under "Licensing Data-->" it states "C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(1333, 5) (null): The data is invalid."  The BIOS is valid for OA 2.0 but the SLIC table is missing. There may be other items I have not identified.

I looked on the Microsoft forum for a solution and others reported having this problem - the (non Microsoft) tech blamed Norton - and suggested 2 solutions:

1)  Reactivate Windows via the Control Panel wizard.  I entered my my Product Key and it stated "Data is invalid".  I was unable to procedd further.

2)  Uninstall Norton and run NETSH WINSOCK RESET from an elevated command prompt.  I did this but it did not resolve the problem.  I have reinstalled NIS to ensure I am protected.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Check through the following thread. It seems to be the same issue.

Thanks!!!!

I followed the link and it took me to a windows tech support page for "Activation Error Code 0x8007000D".  It suggests there has been a loss of System privileges and offers an Auto Fixit to amend the corrupted Registry settings.  THis downloaded a .msi file which I ran and it has done the job.

Glad to hear things are working again.
