I now have NIS 2010 Version 17.1.0.19 and the NIS 2010 Insignia disappears from my Taskbar, like"Hide when Inactive" does that mean when it's not there Norton 2010 is not protecting me or performing any of it's actvities when it's inactive, I'm sorry to sound so dumb but it was always there with NIS 2009, does it make a difference, Thanks to anybody that can answer this......Gorpy1
I'm sorry, Gorpy - I can't really help you, but I've got problems of my own - and only see posting as a reply..
Well, folks, I've have made things worse than all of you:
1) After upgrading to Win7 (over Vista), my E-mail scanning stopped working. After reading the help files and trying everything suggested, I called Tech support. Finally, after nothing worked correctly the tech uninstalled IS2009 and installed 2010 - and now I do not have my NORTON toolbar in Firefox - and I do not intend to use IE!
2) switching from Vista to Win7 must have changed something in NIS - it also threw off all my FF addons, and I had to redownload. While they were still listed in FF, a large portion was not (FF update 3.5.5)
3) I have the 17.1.0.19 patch. Or at least my "ABOUT" tells me so (and I tried many times to do the Live Update thing as listed here)
I just went to the Norton Update Site, downloaded the update module, ran it and this is the result:
"You already have the latest version of your Norton product installed on your computer. Your Norton product version is up-to-date."
This happened to me once when FF released version 3.1, but never since.
Do I have a chance of getting back that toobar? I like and use it. lotus
