I recently installed Norton VPN to my Windows 7 PC. I've been using Norton 360 for many years but decided the extra level of security would be worth having. I discovered that some websites I use apparently captured my original IP address and now require an extra level of security to log in, which is fine with me. One issue I am having is that my email server, through MS Outlook 2013, can receive emails but generates an error when I attempt to send an email. I checked the details of my pop server connection and everything seems to be correct. Any suggestions on how to fix this will by happily accepted.
I've been enjoying the same problems but a bit different. I notice my Gmail account will not even download email whereas my other account will. I also notice outlook.com email addresses are going pads up also. Is there no solution from Norton for this?
I guess there is nothing Norton can do to fix this. I guess I will just have to live with it also.
I have been seeing ALL my login's NOT working with the VPN enabled, its as if the computer being used has never logged in before and is not recognized as you are seeing. All my banking sites require a manual input of the login credentials even though NPM populates them first, and WITHOUT the VPN running. I don't know if what you we are experiencing is widespread or not but I have had to learn to live with the fact that the website publishers have added another layer of security to their sites to prevent cross site code injection, bot logins, etc. even without the VPN up.

Hello SoulAsylum,
I have been randomly sending test emails and discovered that there is no consistency to my problem with Norton VPN. In fact, lately all my tests, as well as regular emails, have been sent with no issue. That being said, I have also discovered another problem using Norton VPN. Some websites I attempt to load, usually through a Google search, will not load. The usually message is something to the affect that the site cannot be found - try again. When I disable the VPN the connection works fine. This is different than sites like Capital One and Amazon. Clearly when I set up my accounts with these sites my normal IP address was stored. Now when I attempt to go to these sites a second level of security is required - which is fine with me. My question is - is this sort of thing normal and experienced by everyone or is there something I can fix on my PC to eliminate these issues? I'm running Windows 7 64bit, (yeah I don't want to upgrade an end up having to buy new versions of very old software I have come to rely on.)
Weird!! Copied from my Macro, maybe the forums had a hiccup lol. Thanks for the extra link post bjm.
Cheers

SoulAsylum -
Your link to posting an image into a message did not work for me.
link does not work for me, too.

SoulAsylum - Thanks for continuing to help.
Your link to posting an image into a message did not work for me. I seldom get an error message (except in this case) and will begin saving them to see if they are always the same. No other computers are used to send emails with this account. I plan on periodically sending test messages and will be sure to include the random IP address the VPN uses, at the time, to see if I can zero in on what's going on.
Kent here is how to post screenshots in the forums directly, its much safer for all involved. Have you EVER seen the error 0x800ccc6f before? Are you using multiple email accounts on Outlook? One thing which comes to mind is the possibility that your ISP MAY be attempting to flag your IP since its not actually what they should be seeing against your account and the servers you are connecting to. If there are other computers on your network or they use the same email account I would run a full system scan on those to make sure they're not seeing too much outgoing traffic.

I just tried to send an email again and, this time I did get an error - I've attached a file with the message. However, I have a feeling it won't help. According to the VPN software the IP address is 89.187.180.229 - in the United States. Of course, my regular IP is completely different and is in New York. I have no idea why emails are sometimes sent successfully and sometimes not.
You're welcome.
Cheers
Very strange - This morning I was able to send emails out with no issue. I have no idea how the issue suddenly resolved itself. If it does happen again, I will capture the error message details and post.
In any event, thanks for your reply.
Hello Kent. Could you get and post a screenshot of the error message you are seeing? That would assist greatly in helping with a solution. Here is how to post a screenshot into your posts.
