I installed Norton wifi privacy yesterday and it would not load properly. So I ended up live chatting with support and they remotely took over pc and disabled driver and then it installed and loaded for me. Now when I open google as my search engine it says United Arab Emirates. I have uninstalled Chrome once thought it was fixed, now it is back in ae mode. When I use google search on IE it also shows UAE. When i use google.com same. I have tried a search for something local when google asks to allow my location I accept, it will show me local but still assumes I'm in United Arab Emirates. Is this how it is supposed to work. If it is I am probably deleting it.
I can't answer for Norton but my experience has been that your VPN connection is from your endpoint to wherever the VPN gateway is located. When I travel overseas, it is frustrating because Google Chrome displays the country site I am in and the language. There are settings in the web browsers that force the we browser to use a specific country and language. However, I don't know how you can get around the location awareness factor. If your Gateway is in Saudi Arabia, then your IP address is local to Saudi Arabia. Security isn't always convenient and when it is, it usually isn't very secure.
Here is a Norton KB article about this issue.
