I have just installed bootcamp and windows xp on my iMac. I have since purchased the Norton 11 software and installed it on my Mac HD. This may be a very silly question and I have been unable to locate an answer, but do I need to install this software on the windows partition as well?
I did not see this information in the instruction manual. Thanks!
it depends on if you bought the norton Dual Protection product or not. If you only bought the single product, it only supports OS X and it doesnt come with the windows version. But, yeah, you need an antivirus product installed on the windows partition
I bought the dual protection for $69.99 and can’t figure out how to get the windows part of it going (what file, etc). It says dual protection and that’s what I thought i was buying.
Was it a download or bought in the store? If it's a downloaded file I don't know. If it was purchased in the store and you have a CD, try booting into windows and put in the CD
I bought the download from the website. I tried accessing the website while in windows but it downloaded the mac file which windows could not handle. If I didn’t need windows for some software I would not be going through this “process.”
Did you download a single DMG file or was it a zipped folder?
You can check your email conformation and see if there's a separate link to download the windows part, it should have also given you a key to activate the product (dont post the key :) )
When I clicked on "buy download" for the Dual Protection, it had two downloads. One for OS/X (antivirus 11) and one for Windows (antivirus 2009). So you should have been sent a Key to activate Antivirus 2009.
You should just be able to go to windows, download the Antivirus 2009 for windows, install it and use the key to activate it. It should probably work on Antivirus 2010 as well since Norton allows version upgrades.
