Issue abstract: Windows intermittently “freezes” or “blips out” for less than three seconds several times per minute while connected to the internet (with or without using Norton’s VPN); does not do so when not connected to the internet
Detailed description: I’ll be typing along in Word, Excel, or even saving a file and the system will “blip out” for a few seconds (looks like I have clicked out of the app or file saving for those few seconds) and then returns to the app or file saving so that whatever I have typed is missing the letters or spacing I was typing during the “blip out.” This started happening when I upgraded to version 24 in November 2024 (but its really getting annoying now).
Unsure if this is some lag inherent in the VPN connection and the near-continual “autosave” feature of Word or Excel but it seems odd that just saving a file is also affected.
Product & version number: 24.12.9725.1248 (as of today)
OS details: Windows 11 (24H2 build 26100.2605)
What is the error message you are seeing? no error messages, no issues when running quick or full PC scans
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them: would need to do a video to accurately show the issue
Hello. Are you using Office 365? Please review this thread and my latest post there as it may be related to 24H2 and Office 365 issues:
*Edited: Your version of Windows is also an insider build. Norton doesn’t guarantee that its products will perform correctly on BETA/Insider edition releases from Microsoft due to having to keep up with its continual changes.
Thank you for replying and yes…Office 365. However, I was noticing yesterday after posting the topic that the “blip outs” are also happening while I am on the internet (even as I type this reply). However, when I am not connected to the internet at all, there are no “blip outs.”
Interestingly enough, though, I seem to recall this issue arising before upgrading to 24H2. I had sought input from the Microsoft community about the same issue and one member suggested that one of the last updates for 24H1 at the time might have been the issue, which prompted me to accept the 24H2 upgrade (thinking the problem would be solved).
Also, I hadn’t realized that 24H2 was a BETA version because they have been selectively rolling it out for a few months even before I upgraded. Then again, I’ve had maybe one or two updates come through for it since November (which seems odd).
According to current information, Windows 11 24H2 Insider builds are currently identified by the “Build 26100” number, with various updates following this base number, available on the Release Preview channel for Windows Insiders; meaning if you’re looking for the latest 24H2 Insider build, search for updates starting with “26100” in the build number.
Key points about Windows 11 24H2 Insider builds:
Build number: Primarily “26100”
Channel: These builds are available on the Release Preview channel for Windows Insiders
Update name: Referred to as the “Windows 11 2024 Update” or “24H2”
