I suggest you to upgrade to the latest version, which is the 2009 version. It has advanced scanning features.

Are you saying that this error does not occur with Norton 2009?
It can happen in 2009 also. Since 2009 version has enhanced scanning technologies, there are fewer chances to get this error message. So I suggest you to upgrade to the 2009 version.

Thanks. I’d already tried the document suggestion before I posted. With no change. I excluded the folder I mentioned previously but the error has occurred in another folder. I didn’t have anymore time yesterday to check any further but will have another look using Custom scan. I have a feeling this might take a long time.
