Internet explorer crashes

I have Norton 360 Premier installed on a brand new Dell N5110 laptop.

I also have Internet Explorer 8 and ever since I installed Norton, nine times out of 10, when I launch IE, before it even fully finishes loading, it will say "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem has caused Internet Explorer to stop working,
it will be closed and notify you when there is a solution to the problem.".... but it notifys me of a solution. And it just keeps crashing everytime I try to get on the internet. :womanmad: I never had this problem before installing Norton!!!

the trial version of McAfee was pre-installed on the laptop when I got it.
it was uninstalled when I installed Norton because Norton said it had to

uninstall McAfee in order to be able to finish it's install. (not exactly in those terms, but you get the idea)

Was this behavior that began when you installed the product or sometime afterwards?  When did this behavior begin?

It began after it was installed. I do not remember how soon it was that it began,

but I think it was like the very next day or something like that.

Hello Precious,

Since we don't have much detail as to how McAfee was uninstalled, I would suggest running their Removal Tool to clear up any leftover remnants of the program.

Let us know how you do.

When I go to remove programs (like it says to do in step 1) it does not show McAfee

My apologies.  You can proceed to Step 2 - Download and Run MCPR.exe.

That should clean up any left-overs.

Did it... but the net is still crashing. But I just realized that it is usually (if not always) Yahoo that crashes...

so maybe it is a Yahoo issue and not a Norton issue...

You may want to consider resetting IE8.

I have had occasion to reset IE8 and suffered no ill effects from doing so. Enabled Add-ons will not be removed, but reset to disabled. You should make note of which Add-ons are currently enabled, as they will need to be re-enabled after the reset. (IE8 > Tools > Manage Add-ons)

If you are going to reset IE8 to the default settings, please read this KB Article to be sure you understand and accept the ramifications of a reset. Be sure all Symantec / Norton add-ons are enabled.

Please try the steps mentioned in the following Symantec KB, and make sure that Internet Explorer is set to allow:
