Hi jpoun
Engineering is aware of this issue and are currently researching the causes for IE freeze issues with Ancestry.com. I will share the update as soon as info if available.
ricky
Norton 360 ver 2.1.0.5
I can recognize Norton Confidential and Symantec Intrusion Prevention among the "Manage add on" list. Don't know if HP Total Care is among the security features since I have to approve any downloads.
Any help would be grateful.
While we are working on a fix to resolve this problem please use the steps below to workaround the problem.
Please take the following steps to implement the workaround:
- Close all open browser windows
- Open Norton 360 from the desktop icon
- Click on “Settings”
- Uncheck the “Identity Safe” checkbox
Note the above workaround will disable Identity Safe. If you have saved passwords in Identity Safe you will not be able to access them until you enable Identity Safe. To enable Identity Safe please select the checkbox mentioned in step #4 above.

I posted this note in the wrong area while in a rush...sorry! Having on-line subscriptions the net is used quite often. Researching family history Ancestry is used most often. The 30 day trial was no problem, after full installation internet explorer will freeze while viewing documents (other areas sometimes). Is there something I can do about this beside uninstallation of Norton?
Welcome to Symantec and thanks for checking out our Blog! I’m sorry that you hit an error with Ancestry.com – this is an issue that some of our other users have had, and one that we are actively working on fixing. We hope to get this problem resolved in the next few weeks – but until then, you can access Ancestry.com by taking the following steps:
1. Close all open browser windows
2. Open Norton 360 from the desktop icon
3. Click on “Settings”
4. Uncheck the “Identity Safe” checkbox
This solution disables Identity Safe – but it should allow you to access the website. If you’ve saved any passwords in Identity Safe, you won’t be able to access them until you re-enable the feature by taking the same steps listed above – but in #4, checking the “Identity Safe” checkbox.
Thanks again for your post – we will work on resolving this issue as soon as possible.
