Internet Explorer stops working

A window says A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available....then another window...a malfunctioning or malicious add on has caused Inter, Expl.to close this web page.

It is happening regularly.....what to do????.

Since it mentions add-ons I'd go to:

IE Menu bar (if you don't see it press the ALT key) >Tools > Internet Options > Advanced TAB > Click on the Reset button.

This will disable all Add-ons and reset other settings in IE to the default and very often stops the problem.

You can then Restart the PC and go Menu Bar > Tools > Manage Addons and re-enable the three Norton/Symantec items listed. Then use the PC and see how it behaves and if you miss anything that is listed in the disabled addons.

If you want to you can do some troubleshooting and enable each disabled add-on one at a time and restarta the PC and see how it behaves ...... and repeat until you find the cause ....

Hope that helps.

If you need more help please give us some more information about your system:

What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help or Support / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn

If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal commercial version please be sure to tell us.

If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.

Please also say what internet browser you are using -- name and version number ...

Hi,

can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product?
1. Open the main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu
3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.0.0.125)

Thanks!

Norton Version

18.5.0.125

Thanks! Plus can you please give us some more extra details:

- What is your Norton product's name: Internet Security or AntiVirus? The version number you wrote us belongs to one of these, and not to Norton 360.

- Which Windows OS and Service Pack do you use?

- Which Internet Explorer version is installed on your machine?

Thanks.

ps: I will ask the mods to move your post to the NIS/NAV board, as it belongs there.

Hi, have you tried resetting IE10 ? You can do this in  Tools/ Internet/Options and resetting IE. Is it set as your default browser, and are all your Windows and Norton updates fully updated ?

Some tips here from Microsoft may help.
