Internet Security 2012 slowing streaming audio eg YouTube etc

Hi,

Installed IS 2012 and having HUGE problems with it slowing streaming audio d...o...w...n.. ... very annoying... does anyone have a solution?

wish I had just stuck with AVG now.

thanks

Tom

Until Norton has fully checked out your system for infections it will use a lot of resources but once that is done it should be very lightfooted.

I was watching the Queen's Jubilee streamed by the BBC from the UK and only stuttered once to catch up ...

Norton has a Silent mode that you can invoke so that background tasks do not take place and I think that gets called up if you go to full screen with a video or a game for example.

This link should explain how to turn Silent Mode on ....

hi -thanks for the reply. I have already run a full scan, so Norton should not be performing any further tasks that consume large amounts of memory (other than the standard background scans for threats). I suspect the problem lies in something like the firewall or other such area??

Did you remove AVG prior to installing  NIS?  Did you use the AVG Removal Tool to ensure complete removal?  Be sure to select the correct tool ( 32 bit or 64 bit from this link:  http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities

Do you have any other security programs installed that could be casuing a conflict?

Have you checked SIlent mode to see if it makes a difference?

Have you checked in Task Manager to see what is using memory?

What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help or Support / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn where n is a number.

Please also say what internet browser you are using -- name and version number ...

Those extra details would be helpful in troubleshooting. Yank's query is extremely important too.
