Hi,
I am using Norton Internet Security 22.5.2.15, which seems to be the latest version at the moment. I have done a Live Update, and been told that I'm up-to-date. I am running Windows 7 with all the latest updates from Microsoft.
Anyway, since the last update, I have been experiencing an extremely annoying problem. When I try to reactivate my computer from idle mode (not hibernation, just the idle mode when NIS does its scanning etc) my system runs incredibly slowly for about 5-10 minutes before going back to normal. The CPU and memory stats in task manager are all what I'd expect to see from the computer normally. The problem seems to be disk activity. Using Resource Monitor, I notice that the Disk Activity on C: drive is locked at 100%, and my system only starts functioning properly when that figure starts to drop back toward zero. Examination of the processes with disk activity reveals two main offenders - nis.exe, and "System". When I filter on "System" though, there are a lot of dlls in the C:\Program Data\Norton listed among a handful of others.
I have turned off or uninstalled just about everything else that could be causing the problem, so Internet Security seems to be the most likely suspect.
Can you provide some assistance?
Thanks
Chris Fairall.
