IPAD Restarts + Cannot Back up with VPN

I have been having issues with ipad restarting constantly- log shows Panic mode and unable to back up to icloud when VPN on. I have had a replacement ipad, performed a complete restore + set up afresh with a new apple ID + the issue persists. 

With VPN off I can perform an icloud back up with no problem.

I have new iPad (2020) and iPhone 8 both devices failed to back up with message poor network conditions. I’ve found that turning Norton web protection off enables both devices to back up with no problems. I then turn web protection back on until the next time I want to back up.

As I noted above, this issue comes and goes with different NMS versions. Please send logs to Norton showing just what you described using the instructions above.

Thanks - its the norton mobile security web protection feature that is the issue- to enable web protection it requests i turn on vpn. With this on the problems arise. 

As I noted, this feature has caused issues off and on with the iCloud backups. I have had the issue and reported it each time. So please submit logs as I suggested above.

To confirm, are you using the separate Norton Secure VPN app on your iOS device? If you are, I would suggest contacting Apple Support to see if they block VPNs for their iCloud backups

If not, the VPN you see is not an actual VPN product, but an 'on device VPN' that Norton has to use to provide the Web Protection feature of Norton Mobile Security app. 

If you are having the issue with Norton Mobile Security, there have been issues on and off with iCloud backups not working with the Web Protection feature enabled.  Please send logs to Norton to help diagnose your problem.

Start by opening iOS settings on your device and scroll down to the bottom where the apps are listed. Tap on the Norton Security app and tap to Enable Debug Log.  

Now use your device until it causes the issue you are having. Then shake your phone back and forth and a prompt will come up to send logs. Tap on Send Error Report and fill in any information requested. In your submission, please include "forum 'your username' " in the Case ID section of the report. Also include a link to this thread. 

If you do send logs, please let me know and I'll notify my contacts to look for them.


 

 

Hi, me too. Same problem on my iPad and iPhone . I wrote three times to Norton support without answers. For pc great product. Instead for iOS it is still an unstable product
