Hi All,
To quote the help file for the default option (which is "on"):
"When Intelligent Skip Scanning is on, Norton Internet Security does not scan some of the common non-container files types that are available on your disk. The commonly available non-container file that Norton Internet Security skips are .dll, .gif, .png, .jpg, .asf, .avi, .bmp, .htm, .ini, .css, .cur, .fon, .ico, .inf, .sys, .ttf, and .wav."
Surely some of these files can be a serious risk especially .dll files so why is the default to skip them? Also, if skipped, what protection under the default options is given against any threats contained in such files?
Lastly why is the skipping or not of these sorts of files only configurable if compressed files are also scanned? Why are these issues linked in this way when most of these sorts of files on the PC will likely not be compressed?
(quote :"options in this section are configurable only when you turn on the Compressed Files Scan option")
Thanks for any help
