Is Internet Explorer a Malicious Script?

I attempted to load IE and Norton advised "Alert: Malicious Script detected". I get the same alert for Windows Update. What may be the problem here?

Thanks for the reply: I am using an HP Compaq desktop with Win XP and Norton 2003 Anti virus 9.05.15

If you are using Norton 2003, try disabling the Script Blocking feature:
