Detailed description:
I use my Windows 11 Pro PC with Microsoft Edge to browse the internet. It was working fine until recently when the internet connection began momentarily dropping out. It’s been difficult to access the internet to look for advice on how to solve the problem as chat windows keep freezing up due to the unstable internet connection. I’ve tried changing the VPN protocol to OpenVPN (TCP) in the settings of Secure VPN, turning off Kill Switch. I’ve tried turning VPN off altogether, disabling Auto-protect and Smart Firewall, refreshing VPN IP and changing location, and even uninstalling and re-installing Norton 360, but to no avail. The arrow which points NE still keeps appearing in the system tray and when I hover the mouse over it, it says ‘Location in use by Norton 360’, even with auto-protection and Smart Firewall turned off. I’m running the latest Windows 11 Pro build of version 25H2. I’ve also tried restarting my Virgin Media router and turning Channel Optimisation off in the HUB 4 settings to prevent the HUB 4 from hopping channels mid-session (my Wi-Fi supports 5 GHz). I’ve also rolled back the Realtek Wi-Fi driver as it had recently been automatically updated by Windows Update, and changed the settings to prevent it from being automatically updated again (apparently it’s been reported for causing connection problems by some users). Unfortunately nothing seems to work and I’m pulling my hair out. I can still access the internet, but the interruptions to browsing and playing online games are annoying. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
