hi LindaK - I'm with Stu - either Norton 360 or NIS are top of class for threat prevention - the add-on pack also include parental controls. on the downside, it is not account based, which means it applies to everyone using any account. but it is password protected, so can be enabled and disabled on the fly.
i have kids as well and actually have opted for Norton AntiBot as well... kids tend to look for game cheats using the computer and so i like having the extra layer of protection. like all security software, it's really only effective if you have it in place before encountering a threat - if applied after encountering a trojan for example, the only really safe way to know it is gone is to remove and reinstall your operating system.

Stu/Mel - Thank you so much for responding. I will definitely make sure my product is up to date - I didn't realize there was something newer than what I already have installed - I don't think we have had it that long. In addition, I will pick up the other Norton product you recommended.
Thanks again, Linda
Thanks for your feedback.
We're glad to help

My family has 1 PC in the house (besides my husband's work computer). We use it for basically everything and I am getting increasingly concerned about the stuff my teenagers do when mom isn't looking over their shoulder. I have Norton Internet Security 2007 on my computer. Is this enough or is there something else I should buy?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
I think it will be enough for everyday use. Most of the time the biggest problem are the users itself. For downloading and accepting malware.
I suggest you upgrade to 2008 and offcourse download and install the add on pack for the anti spam
