Is norton send my internet speed slow?

Hi with a network setup of 2 pcs and a mac i decided to download n install norton on my mac for extra safety...

 

Ever since after 5 min of being online with the mac everything comes to a snails pace including the pcs on the same network >< Ive turn off everything to do with norton that i know how yet is no help. The only way of returning the speed is to remove the network cable.. the idea of deleting norton runs through my mind but with the little help nortons site offers i decide agents it and to keep trying to trouble shooting.. not knowing squat about macs apart from how to turn it on i have failed.... only an art program has been installed other then norton... The mac is a OSx 10.5.8 on a cable network...  I have seen others asking the same question on other forums but with no result...

There is no way that our products are making other machines on your network slower.

 

Or maybe I am misunderstanding your question?

So your product doesnt change settings or anything? I noticed when i installed it on first re start rather then the apple icon it was a world icon.... It had changed the startup disk.. can it have changed anything else?

I think Mike is saying that there doesn't seem to be any way the software on the Mac would affect the other machines.  We certainly don't change the startup disk, which icon are you referring to which changes to a world? Can you attach a screen shot?

 

Also, to be clear, did you install Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton AntiVirus (NAV)?
