I was in in the middle of a banking session and all of a sudden got a full-screen popup labeled "norton service message" inviting me to try Safe Web Lite. I had no idea if it was a legitimate popup or not, so I certainly did not click to "Download". Within the last week or two has Norton begun pushing Safe Web Lite via popup? It certainly was an inopportune time for it to be popping up--in the middle of a secure session like that. I quickly got rid of it, since I didn't know if it was legit.
If it's a legit popup, then in order to get the product, I would have to violate the principles of browsing safety and click on the button in the popup. So ironically Norton is encouraging an unsafe practice since I couldn't verify who the popup was from. If it was a spoofed popup, then the download could put anything nefarious on my computer. How can I tell if this is real?
