hi JT - i'm not familiar with mbam, but i believe the protocol for threats with Norton is to submit the virus using the following site:

https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi

did you run a full scan with the latest def's with Norton? any results? anything in quarantine?

also, what happens when you invoke the task manager?

Hello JT,

You can try this to enable task manager (Applies to Windows XP, may work on Vista too):

Click Start

Click Run

Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK

In the Group Policy settings window, go to User Configuration, select Administrative Templates - System - Ctrl+Alt+Delete option and locate: Remove Task Manager

Double-click the Remove Task Manager option, choose "disable", and then click OK. Restart your computer.

I hope this helps!

Thanx Vejdin
jjtskicould you please confirm if this did the job?

This did not work. It is still greyed out and indicates that it has been disabled my Admin when executing taskmgr.exe

Please try this

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Name: DisableTaskMgr
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1=Enablethis key, that is DISABLE TaskManager
Value: 0=Disablethis key, that is Don't Disable, Enable TaskManager

Stu,

It is set to 1 but shouldn't I back up the registry first? I tried to run the Symantec Registry back-up tool but it requires IExplorer and in the process I think that is how the malware started up again.

Did you allready send the files to Symantec?

https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi

What do I need to send? The ones that mbam quarentined? I thought they were already deleted.

I thought it was started up again?
