Is there a log file for blocked attacks?

NIS 2012 this morning popped up a window on one of our computers to say it blocked an attack on the machine, but before I could get to the machine, the window disappeared. I am interested to learn more about the threat and tried to find some kind of log file that will show details about it, but cannot locate it anywhere. Is there such a file, and where does one find it, please?
