On 2/5/12 I installed the premium version of NMS on my Droid X (Version 2.3.3). (Just prior to getting NMS I uninstalled the free version of Lookout) Since that time my battery life seems to be down 30-50%. My phone usage is relatively light and very consistent. Normally it is off charger at 0730 and back on at 2300 with at least 60% charge left. Now it is lucky if it has 20%.
Question- is there a way that I can temporarily turn NMS completely off and still get it back without paying another $30! That would be the easiest test and avoiding dangerous internet use is quite easy for me.
As long as you don't reset the device you should be able to get it back. It may prompt to go through the purchase process without actually charging. Did you install and setup the NAT plugin? If so, I'd actually recommend you try increasing the checkin interval first and see what happens.
I am a little surprised that NMS appears to have caused such an additional drain on your device. Have you checked the battery usage stats to see what they say about NMS? Have you also installed the Norton Anti-Theft plugin that you can get free when you have the"premium" version of NMS?
Before I saw your reply I switched the Battery Mode from Performance to Nighttime Saver. I presume (but am not sure) that it was on Performance Mode before adding NMS (would NMS change the battery mode?)
After the switch to Nighttime Saver mode the battery usage appeared to be back to normal.
Today I took your suggestion and changed the NAT check in from hourly to every 3 hours.
At this point I am not sure what really happened, but all seems well and I am satisfied with the settings and battery usage.
