I saw NIS at $19.99. However the image shows 2012. Is this for the latest version or for the 2012 version?

Should I rather get the 360 version for the same price?

That would be for the original version 2012 version and would need a lot of updating.
If you already have NIS installed you could just use the product key that comes with that deal to renew your current subscription. As you would be using a new product key, you would lose any remaining time on your subscription, so just wait until you have one or two days remaining to enter the new key.
As to taking 360 over NIS, it depends on whether you want to use the backup features or the utilities that come with it.
Iv'e got 26 days left on NIS and just for the hell of it I clicked on renew from my main screen. There is says that any remaining time will be added to my renewal time. I didn't do it fearing it would not. Did they change the renewal procedure???
If you renew thru your current installation’s renew button - it will add the remaining days - been that way for quite awhile.
However, if you do not do the renewal, but instead purchase a new product and enter it’s key when your installation is ready to expire - it will not add the remaining days, but start your new count as of that day.
Thanks Yank, I do have a new key to enter and thats what I thought would happen if I just entered the new key. Happy Thanksgiving and try not to eat too much bird today.. Ron
You are welcome Ron and if I gobble tomorrow you will know why!
Hi - I just wanted clarification on this - I picked up a copy of NIS at Costco - my expiration is 12/26. So on 12/26, do I click on renewal and then just add the new product key that's in the box? I haven't opened the box, just in case i needed to return it.
A couple years back, I had found a disccount code and it ended up being a hassle because it was a new subscription and had to cancel the renewal since it was so much more so want to avoid that mess again. And I kept getting emails about the expired sub.
Thank you!

On the latest version, just click on "renew" at the bottom of the main NIS screen, then on the next screen there should be a "I have a key code" link, just click on that and enter your new key.
I also bought a new nis, but from amazon. My current expires in 24 days, so in 23 days I'll enter my new product key. Just click on renew from NIS main screen, then click on I have a new key, enter it and you should be good to go. Ron

Hi CurlyGirlCa,
I wouldn't do it at the last minute,,, it is instead advisable to do it a couple of days before the expiry date so that should anything go wrong with the renewal you have the time to clarify things without risking to have your system unprotected meanwhile.
Cheers!

Oh, good point.
I have one more question. My subscription is working on the desktop and the laptop. Will I need to enter the new product key on the laptop as well or will it be seemless when I renew? Thank you again!

You will have to enter the new key in all computers that use your Norton Account.
CGC
While I've done it Peter's way, I think I read also that you can enter it one and then on the other use the Check Subscription Status and have it come back on the second one with the new date .....
I'll come back and let you know how it goes in a few weeks.
Thanks for all the assistance.
So the trick is to renew it on the actual Norton Internet Security page where it says Subscription Status ## days, Renew.
I was clicking on the Renew link in the actual account and there was no 'enter the product key'. I knew you guys must know something I was missing so I googled, 'I have the product key' and got this page: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080416133754EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
and was then successfully able to renew and it added my day to the subscription. I'll have to check the subscription status on my son's laptop tomorrow.
Thank you, this was a cheap way to renew.

As you are using a new product key, you will have to enter that on all the computers to be protected by your subscription.
Happy to see you got things working properly.

Added the new product key to the kid's laptop and he is good to go.
Thank you!
I did exactly as the others have stated a day or so before my sub was due to expire, and entered the new key on both my desktop and laptop.
Took a couple of minutes for each computer. Too easy !......
