The “connected to network” and “blocked UDP traffic” spamming in recent history is still happening. It’s been a ton of patches and two whole versions now, why is that persisting?
Re: Protection Score, good news! I had a blessed several days on the last patch of version 25 where it was gone completely, then on the day the update to 26 was released, it came back with its prior stupidity. Once I updated, the stupidity stopped. Only issues I’ve had with it since were it kicking ignored items back into its recommendations and one time where I wasn’t fast enough to run LiveUpdate for its tastes. Both minor and both fixed since then.
Still would like “Your protection is strong, but could be stronger” nags to go away. Norton shouldn’t be treating my decisions to leave my network on private and disable automatic LiveUpdate as a personal affront to it.
I agree, Norton team, please remove the phrase “Your protection is strong, but it could be stronger.” If I chose it, that message shouldn’t exist, just like in Avast. You can make changes as you wish, and it remains normal, without any messages.
When I open the Norton program update tool, I’m disappointed to see that Norton doesn’t show the programs that need updating.
Why is this happening, and why hasn’t it been fixed yet?
This means Norton is leaving me unprotected by not updating these potentially vulnerable programs.

Doesn’t matter if VPN is on or not. Have tried all the suggestions made by the support chatbot, and human support did get it working successfully for a while earlier today. But, no longer.
Obviously interested in whether anybody else is encountering this issue, as well as if anybody has a solution. In the meantime, I will revert to Google.
The issue mentioned in this thread, “Norton becomes active for short periods of time and steals focus,” has not been fixed even with the latest patch 26.2.
This issue occurred today, March 10, with patch 26.2.
I have the same issue. I have an open case with Norton support after several escalations and doing all the usual support stuff. Waiting for a response.

Thanks. To date the only way to stop those from logging is the workaround to disable IPv6 on your internet adapter. Guru bjm has an older post that lays it out step-by-step in an orderly manner. Its fairly straight forward if you have someone a bit techy to assist.
Since last month’s Windows update, I’ve had a very minor issue pop up on my end: a “Please wait” screen shows up on every boot before I’m able to login. It doesn’t get stuck or anything, prob’ly lasts for ten seconds or less, but I’ve been tracking possible causes. It didn’t happen when I booted in Safe Mode, so I suspected there was some third party interaction going on. Led me to uninstall/reinstall Norton as a test, and it looked like it made the already short “Please wait” screen even shorter. Don’t know if it was an interaction with last month’s Windows update or if it’s just being goofy on its own.
Also found another issue with Protection Score that happened after reinstalling, one that didn’t happen the last time. It no longer shows my device name, just a - where the device name was. The device name comes up in Settings and on the My Subscription page, but it doesn’t for that. I don’t know if it has to sync up or anything, but if it does, it’s sure taking its sweet time in doing so, since I did the uninstall/reinstall yesterday morning and it’s still showing -. Doesn’t seem to be affecting anything, though.
Also, can we please be allowed to disable AvLaunch, if only for testing purposes? I tried to do a clean boot earlier to further investigate the “Please wait” thing and not being able to disable AvLaunch kind of hampers that. I really don’t want to have to uninstall/reinstall every time I’m trying to figure out anything that requires disabling startup items.
Not sure if this would help, but in 360 Settings > General tab try turning off Product Tamper Protection. That may allow you do disable the AvLaunch for testing. Be sure to turn it back on after your testing.
Thank you for reminding me about Tamper protection! After turning that off, I was freely able to disable AvLaunch.
So with the ability to enable/disable, I conducted a pair of clean boots. One with AvLaunch disabled and one with it enabled. “Please wait” didn’t show up on the one with it disabled, while it did on the one with it enabled. I’m thinking it’s a small clash with Windows 11’s updates starting with last month’s kb5077181 and that I’m prob’ly just gonna have to live with it.
Also noticed that, since that update, Norton 360 takes a bit longer to appear in my systray icons.

In an effort to rule out Windows update shenanigans completely re: the “Please wait” issue, I did a repair install last night. Today was the first boot in two months that I didn’t see a “Please wait” screen before I was able to login. Also saw the Norton icon in my systray immediately after logging in, as opposed to having to wait for it to turn up. My fingers are crossed that it was Windows causing those issues all along and that they stay gone.
The issue with Protection Score not showing my device name remains the same, but that is a visual glitch and it’s otherwise behaving itself.
