On one of my Android tablets, I have trouble installing the Norton Family app. After installing and logging in with my useraccount, the app keeps requesting a system access to user applications. When I access the Android settings however, Norton Family is already granted access (see enclosed photo - in Dutch).
I already tried to uninstall and re-installing the app, but nothing seems to work. Who can help??
The tablet concerned is a brand new Lenovo TB2-X30F, running Android 5.1.1.
One other (older Asus) tablet is not having this issue.
No nothing unfortunately. We have the same tablet too. Whatever Lenovo have done to the Android OS, it is stopping some apps from getting the permissions they need and being able to run.
Hopefully they will listen to some of the bigger companies such as Symantec.
Yes I have tried various combinations of installing and setting permissions including the 'device administrator' setting. As I said though, it is not limited to your software but Lenovo might actually listen if a large company like Symantec are putting pressure on them.
I stumbled upon this while trying to get the trial of Norton Family working on my daughters Lenovo tablet. This is not limited to Norton only as I have also tried to trial Qustodio Family on there and have the exact problem.
As Lenovo's customer 'support' is non-existent, could you give me an update on how your engineering teams discussions with them are going? I need a product that I can use on all of my devices, but because of this Android problem I am not able to commit to any one software at the moment.
While Lenovo is working on the issue, based on some of the information available from Lenovo Forum, our engineering team came up with the below steps as a potential workaround. Please try the following to see if these help.
