I recently got a rogue worm named rogue.smartprotector that created a file in my registery files that I have removed now with malwarebytes. The smart firewall was active and this wasnt from downloading anything infected Im positive, but afterwards my full scans would stop 20,000 files short of the previous full scans. Went into safe mode and scanned, when it finished the scan everything was clean. Downloaded malwarebytes and superantispyware to make sure, went into safemode and scanned.. superantispyware found nothing but cookies while MWB found the rogue worm and I'm not sure if Im rid of it after removing it. After removing it I booted up normally uninstalled Norton: Internet Security and reinstalled it to fix the scanning issue I had, and it did fix it.
I have an issue regarding this smart firewall, I'm used to windows firewall and the fact that I can enable "No File Sharing" which I read some worms use to get into my files. How can I have the smart firewall enabled but disable file sharing? If I try to disable it I'll get a message saying enabling this will turn on windows firewall and N:IS will give me numerous issues with having two firewalls enabled est. I'm used to using Systemworks Norton Antivirus and I've never had issues with it in the past 3 years using it but this is my first time using Internet Security and I thought N:IS was more thorough and better than antivirus so I bought it and tryed it out with this happening.
I just found out this rogue.smartprotector is an empty file that shows up as a false positive with malwarebytes but its been fixed now so If you run into this issue heres a thread regarding it, PS: Edits really need to overlap how many is it possible to have haha.
