So, a few hours ago I attracted some nasty malware/spyware trying to download coretemp (had issues with overheating and wanted to check if my CPU was the problem).
So the malware basically snuck in while I did that, Norton approved coretemp and said it was safe. Anyways, I used to Malwarebytes Anit-Malware to quarantine some 170 files afterwards. I got a program called "AppHat" and something called "Gneio".
It seems like malwarebyte did contain the problem, as the computer is working fine and the web-browers modifications are now gone.
However, the last couple of hours I've been under constant attack from "Web Attack:PUP/Adware/Fake Application Download 4" varying from low to high threat in NIS.
What I'm basically wondering is; is the system still compromised? Do "they" now specifically target my IP address? Are other computers on the network at risk? Could my router be compromised?
Over the last couple of hours I've been reading about trojans that "hack" the router and redirect the traffic. Anyways, I didnt use to get attacked like this, and its obviously connected. Any soloutions would be greatly appreciated.
Emil.
