I'm baaack! With great help from members of this forum I cleaned out all Symantic and Norton stuff using the Norton Removal Tool and cccleaner, and then installed NAV2006 and purchased a one-year support. It has been working fine (and, for the record, during the 1+ years without being updated, the full scan found zero threats). Two problems/questions arose, however.
First, when the system starts, the program, X10nets.exe starts running and takes over 99% of CPU time. The only solution I've found is to remove the program with Windows Task Manager. After this, nothing else has run strange, but it's a nuisance to do on every startup, and maybe something won't run right in other processes as I use more programs. What has gone wrong, and is there a good fix for it?
Second, the Norton Security window suggested that I also install SystemWorks 2007. The system requirements seem compatible with my setup (XP SP1). Is this additional utility worth the cost and additional overhead?
Thanks, again for your earlier help.
