This is very weird… I check my norton on ios to time to time but this time it randomly said “Secured network” instead of “Secured by VPN” I had my VPN on but I don’t know what is happening…
OK. So you have manually turned on the VPN feature in your 360. Where in the interface are you seeing the Secured Network notice?
Norton has been known to change the user interface messages without warning. So what you are seeing is OK as long as it is saying your connection is secured.
First, I use the Auto-connect VPN and I also checked if the VPN system was on in the Privacy section and it was. Is this some sort of glitch?
A couple of things to verify. You say you normally have the VPN on. Have you manually turned it on from the Privacy section of the main 360 interface, or are you just noting the VPN icon in the notification area at the top left of the screen? If just looking at the icon, this icon is also displayed when you have the Safe Web feature turned on in Security > Internet Security. This is a quirk of how Norton has to use the iOS VPN programming API's to provide the Safe Web feature. So this icon alone does not ensure your VPN feature is active.
Displaying Secure Network indicates that the network you are connected to is secured by a password, such as when connected to your home router. Secured by VPN would be displayed if you had connected to an unsecured/public wifi hotspot that does not require a password, and you have the VPN set to Auto Connect when unsecured network connection is detected.
