It's like paying an annual fee for a virus that won't let other viruses in

I won't be renewing.

Since installation, the speed of my web browsing is a third of what it once was.  I click on a link and wait for 45 seconds before Norton starts "allowing" stuff to appear on my screen.

When I start the machine up, I go and find a ten minute task to do while Norton is strangling my system boot.

Because my wife was convinced our Vista laptop "was broken", we gave my daughter a new laptop for Christmas.  Upon opening the box, the very first thing she did was beg me not to put Norton on it.  She was the one who suffered with the Vista problem for 8 months; I don't blame her.

Regarding the Vista laptop, Norton pretty much crippled the machine; eventually it would not even boot.  So sometime in January, I started in safe mode, uninstalled Norton and voila!  The machine was working perfectly 60 seconds later.

The product works, I'm just not sure the cure isn't worse than the disease.

Machines that won't boot.  Check.

Internet access at dial-up speed.  Check.

Expensive hardware replacements.  Check.

Sounds like a virus to me.
