Its not always a virus!

Just thought I would share this with you.

I went to sort out a client today who for the past few days could not connect to the internet.

I checked and the modem seemed to be connected to the adsl but not the internet.

I ran Malwarebytes on top of NIS but nothing found.

I reset the password for the modem

I decided to run a netsh reset to clear the stack

no luck.

Call support from the broadband provider to be told that it was impossible to connect Windows 7 to adsl using a modem. This despite the fact that it has worked for the past 2 years.

Call another support person in order to order a router and he confirmed that Windows 7 cant work with usb modems.

Then after 2 hours of working I am told by the broadband provider that they have placed a block on the a/c due to a confusion over payment .

So the moral is that no internet is not always a virus and if all appears normal then best check that the provider hasnt placed a block which the support engineers dont know about.
