Itunes not working

I have the latest version of Norton Internet Security as well as the latest version of Itunes..

Recently i tried to backup my iPad but it always stuck at part 2 which i had tried several solutions but still the same.. 

Below are some of the solutions which i had tried:

- resetting the smart firewall

- make sure smart firewall allow iTunes access

- uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes

- resetting sync histories, removing past backups and using the winsock reset features

Can anyone help me or assist me in this issue
