Just Updated Subscription with New N360 5 Device and It Says 30 Days Left???

I've been using Norton products for many years, from Systemworks through to N360 Multi Device 5 user version last year and bought a brand new Multi Device 5 user version recently in preparation for renewing.

We've been away for a few days and my subscription expired while we were away.  When I logged on of course I got the subscription expired message but had my newly purchased brand new Norton 360 Multi Device 5 user version at hand.

Thinking back I seem to remember something about a message saying "get 30 days in ADDITION to a year when you renew" or something along similar lines.  Silly me thought "Great - bonus 30 days!!" so I clicked the link, entered the key for the brand new product I just unwrapped from its shrink wrap and clicked Next.  Now it says I have 30 days!!!  WTF???

Logged into my account and for my phone, tablet and other 2 partitions I have it says "expired", which makes sense given I'm now afraid to try to renew them in case I end up in deeper doo-doo!  However, this one (Win 8.1) account says 30 days trial version.

It seems to have totally ignored the key from the version I purchased!! Why?

I've run subscription checks which just say 30 days and tried re-entering the key through the support menu - no difference.

What's going on?

Thanks,

Gary
