Keeps signing me out of Norton on my iphones

Good Afternoon, I have a laptop and three iPhones with Norton 360. Whilst the laptop is fine, the iPhones keep signing me out. Signing back in through the “redeem subscription” button reinstates it for a while. Have tried re downloading the app, turning device on and off and so on. To no avail. I’m not an I.T. genius - that’s why I have Norton. Any ideas please to resolve this enigma. Thanks.

Hello @Silas_Marner
AI Overview
Your iPhone and Norton software can conflict, especially if you have a VPN, password manager, or internet security feature enabled. A VPN may cause websites and apps to force sign-outs, or your Norton apps may simply have data or sync issues

Common solutions
Check your Norton VPN/Internet Security settings
The “Internet Security” feature in Norton 360 uses VPN technology, which some apps and websites do not support.

  • Disable and re-enable the VPN. Go to the Norton app and manually turn off and then turn on the VPN.
  • Temporarily remove the VPN profile. Go to Settings > General > VPN on your iPhone. If you see the Norton 360 profile, tap the info icon, then tap Delete VPN.
  • Use Airplane mode. Turning Airplane mode on and off can resolve temporary internet connectivity issues.

Exclude specific apps from the VPN
If you find that only certain apps are affected, you can use Split Tunneling on a Windows or Android device to exclude them from the VPN. Since this feature isn’t available on iOS, the best option is to manually exclude the problematic apps on a different device.

Troubleshoot the Norton app

  • Sign in again. For Norton Password Manager, users have reported issues with repeated sign-in prompts. Try signing out of the Norton app and then logging back in.
  • Reinstall the app. If the Norton app is malfunctioning, deleting and reinstalling it can often resolve glitches. This will also ensure you have the latest version.

Perform general iPhone maintenance
If Norton doesn’t appear to be the root cause, or if the problem persists, perform these basic troubleshooting steps:

  • Update iOS. Make sure your iPhone’s operating system is up to date by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Clear Safari data. For issues with websites, go to Settings > Safari and clear your history and website data.
  • Check date and time. Incorrect date and time settings can interfere with secure login tokens. Make sure Settings > General > Date & Time is set to “Set Automatically”.

How to get further help
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you can get help directly from Norton’s support resources:

  • Send an error report. Use the Norton 360 app’s Help menu to submit an error report, including “forum ‘your username’” in the case ID.
  • Contact Norton Support. You can find contact information for Norton support on their website.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply. I shall follow your advice and attempt a resolution.

Maybe, @peterweb - Mobile Master… will chime in.

Let us know how you’re progressing.
Thanks

My first questions are what iPhone models do you use and what iOS version is on them?

Is this a new install on these phones, or have you had 360 installed for some time.

If you already had 360 installed, when did this signing out issue start? Can you think of any changes made to all 3 phones around the time of the issue starting?

Thank you for your reply. I phones 15, 16 and SE. All operating systems up to date plus the new upgrade ios 26 (which turns all the Apps into jellies and so forth etc ) Been with Norton a long time. iPhone 16 is a new addition. They have been dropping out for maybe 3 weeks - random with no visible reason or pattern. Never drops out of the laptop. Only two oddities - apps say I have 6 devices covered. I only have four. Presumably ghosting two relate to defunct and destroyed old phones. Have tried to delete them but obviously failed. Other thing is my Plus Net connection seems to drift between MG7K to MG7K -2. No idea what that’s all about. Metaphorically - I drive the car but have no idea what’s under the bonnet. That’s why I subscribe to Norton to do it for me  . Cheers for reading this.

First, I applaud your courage in updating to the iOS 26. I like to wait on the major updates until I get feedback that there are no glaring bugs.

Having said that, the iOS 26 would not seem to be involved here as you had the issue for about 3 weeks.

Next time it signs you out of your subscription, see if there is another option other than “redeem subscription”. Maybe just a Sign in option? If so, try that.

Wow! I’m amazed that you have the resilience and patience to wait for those wobbly icons and new colour schemes on iOS 26. . But seriously, thank you for your reply. The immediate download of these things illustrates a certain naivety in the world of magnets and miracles. A burden that some of us carry. I am cognitive of the advice of BJM and yourself and will endeavor to monitor these aspects towards a solution. Many thanks to both.

I have the same issue - Norton 360 signing me out for no obvious reason.

Never a problem, until recently.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone Xs, and iPad Pro 9.7 (quite old, I forget exactly).

My laptop is absolutely fine (for this particular issue).

No obvious reason, I am using 8 of 20 available seats. I began to suspect that my account had been hacked and I was been “unseated”.

This does not appear to be the case, and pleased it is not “just me”. I am not on my own with this.

I have been with Norton since 2004, when I bought my very first laptop, and have a range of their products. I am growing increasingly frustrated with Norton, with numerous problems.

How can anyone trust a paid for service, that does not provide the service. A paid for service that gives you problems not solutions. I think this will be my last subscription year.

But in the meantime, I need to find a solution to the repetitive “sign out” to avoid the constant vulnerability.

I echo many of your comments. The service is expensive, a fee I pay for an insurance which I hope, allows me to go on my cyber way without worry or consideration. I take no pleasure in messing with these things. I’ll let you know if I find an answer.

Just an FYI. Your device protections are not hampered if you are not signed into your Norton Account. The only feature I have showing that I need to sign in is Identity.

To @RobW and @Silas_Marner . Where in the app are you being shown you are not signed into your Norton Account?

Hi Peter, thanks for taking the time to reply.

That is twice in less than 24-hours that I have been signed out, and I have to use my time to fix Norton - which takes me away from being productive elsewhere.

I am only permitted to upload one media item per post, therefore please see the subsequent sequential posts, below.

Edit: Addition, I am also restricted to three replies per topic, photo 4 may be added later but just illustrates: “Purchase restoration has failed”.

The process is:

  1. Connect to the internet

  2. Realise that the VPN is not connected - therefore the protection is not in place

  3. Open Norton App - realise that the Norton App has signed out (photo 1)

  4. Choose “Get Started” - takes you to “choose plan” (photo 2), naturally the most expensive is default.

  5. Choose “redeem subscription” - takes you to “Sign in with Norton”, “Restore from app”, or “Sign in with service provider” (photo 3)

  6. Choose “Restore from app” - results in “purchase restoration failed” (photo 4)

  7. Choose “Sign in with service provider” or “Sign in with Norton” - both options take you to Norton account sign in.

Painful, unnecessary, not user friendly, not customer oriented, paying an organisation to not provide the service, paying an organisation to use my own time, paying an organisation to have to micro mange the “service”.

I emphasise, the VPN is not connected - therefore the (paid for) protection is not in place.

Repeated vulnerability, therefore:

Customer trust = 0

Customer satisfaction = 0

This same thing is happening to my account. has impacted all phones and ipads. I have to sign in every time I open the application. I’ve tried all steps above. No luck.

Is this a new subscription you have recently started? You say your laptop is not affected, which would indicate that you do have a valid subscription.

One thing comes to mind. Do you also have the standalone Norton Secure VPN app installed? Recent changes to that app for Windows makes it impossible to to have both VPN and 360 installed. Maybe that is carrying over to the mobile versions now.

So when you are taken to to Norton Account Sign in, does that restore the apps functionality?

Did you at any time start a 360 subscription directly from the Google Play Store?

@Silas_Marner @JMD3131 @RobW

I am not seeing what you are with this issue, it does not seem to be a widespread issue.

Rob’s images would seem to indicate that he is in the UK as the priced quoted are in pounds. Are the others here also in UK? Maybe a localized issue.

At this point, I think it is time to send logs to Norton to help diagnose this issue. Use the information in this Norton Support article. Send reports if Norton 360 app encounters an error on your mobile device In the Case ID section, enter your forum username, and add a link to this thread somewhere in the description.

If you do send logs please post back here so I can escalate the issue to my Norton contacts.

I’m in the US. This is happening on iPhones running iOS 19 and iOS 26.

I open the apps on these devices and it asks me to “Redeem Subscription” and I log in.

Once I return to the app, after a few minutes or hours, I’m asked to “Redeem Subscription” upon my return.

It’s almost as if it’s not allowing me to be logged in to two different devices at one time.

I take it you do have a multi device subscription, and that this has just started happening?

Please send the logs as noted in my post above. That can help Norton try to determine what is happening on your device and/or your Norton Account.

Hi Peter,

Thanks again for your time.

I have been with Norton since 2004, and have subscribed to their various products as they have evolved over the years.

Currently, I have Norton 360 Platinum, with 20 available devices. I use eight. The subscription is valid until 4th December 2026.

I have other Norton products - Norton Identity, Norton Anti-Track, Norton Utilities Ultimate, Norton Driver Updater, and standalone Norton VPN - but most of these are on the laptop only (with some not all on the iPhones and iPad), which is unaffected by his issue.

The best way to describe this issue, is that the affected devices are becoming “unseated”. But going through my account, there are no new or unrecognised devices, and there available “seats”.

Alternatively, it is similar to the phone clearing cookies and cache, causing the app to sign out. But no other apps are affected.

It is a Norton issue. The stability / reliability is no longer there.

This is happening multiple times a day.
